New Zealand leads the world when it comes to dairy, accounting for over a third of the world’s international dairy trade.
New Zealand's milk products feed more than 100 million people worldwide, and the dairy industry contributes 25% of New Zealand’s merchandise export earnings. Those earnings support jobs, keep interest rates down and enable more Government spending on essential services. New Zealand dairy products are exported to over 150 different countries worldwide.

Dairying Today. With annual exports in excess of NZ$13.7 billion, the dairy industry is New Zealand's biggest export earner, accounting for more than 29% by value of the country's merchandise exports. Around 95% of New Zealand's milk is exported.

Impact to NZ
Dairy contributes $7.8 billion dollars total to NZ’s GDP. This consists of $5.96 billion from dairy farming and $1.88 billion from dairy processing. Over the past few years dairy has brought in an average of 14.4 billion dollar per year from exports. It also provides jobs and income for over 40,000 workers.
